- Situation: Paperwork for
customer shipments during the busy season was taking
up to five days for processing. Inventory related
problems became apparent when paperwork was lost, resulting in reduced revenue and invoicing delays.
Solution:
IT Alternatives developed a custom bar coding solution, which verified the picking of
inventory and ensured that
all the items on the customer order were placed
together in the shipping container, reducing the incidence of lost or misplaced
inventory. The software also generated transactions to
reduce inventory from the proper bin location and to update
the customer order with actual quantities. A
Customer Service Rep could click an icon and process all
the appropriate transactions and be able to print an invoice
before the truck driver left the shipping dock.
- Situation: Line items on customer
orders were being canceled because the product was not
available for shipment, resulting in lost revenue.
Solution:
IT Alternatives developed analytical inventory usage reports that
allowed ABC categorization of the inventory. A
new forecasting algorithm was developed, and less
time was needed to manage the purchasing of parts.
By enhancing the inventory position and reducing unused inventory, this solution reduced lost sales, increased revenue, and lowered costs.
- Situation: A client did not have an accounting system but wanted to manage
cash flow.
Solution:
IT Alternatives developed a custom accounts receivable database solution that generated
easy-to-use reports for the customer service representatives.
Only 45 days after implementation, receivables were reduced from 92 days to
34 days. We also developed an accounts payable system to
manage the payment of invoices based on terms and other
parameters. These solutions saved the client more than the cost of the consulting fees and hardware
purchases.
